Facts checked against both vendors on September 28, 2026.
invideo AI is the stronger choice if you want generative video: it routes to Seedance, Veo 3.1, Sora 2 and Kling, adds avatars and voice cloning, and edits on a multitrack timeline by prompt. Pictory is the stronger choice if you want dependable stock-footage videos from scripts, articles and long recordings, priced in minutes rather than credits, with a large stock library and API automation. invideo makes new footage; Pictory assembles existing footage.
invideo AI and Pictory both promise a finished video from text, but they get there differently. invideo has rebuilt itself around frontier generative models and an editing agent that works a real timeline. Pictory has stayed close to its original job: turn a script, a blog post or a long recording into a captioned video using stock media, brand kits and ElevenLabs voices, at a scale marketing and training teams can budget.
The figures below come from the two vendors' pricing and product pages as of September 2026.
invideo AI is a browser and mobile app in which you describe a video and an editing agent produces and revises it on a multitrack timeline; the vendor's phrase is that you describe the edit in plain words and the agent does it. Under the hood it offers a menu of video models including Seedance, Google Veo 3.1, Sora 2 and Kling, image models including Nano Banana Pro, Ideogram and Flux Kontext, and audio from ElevenLabs and Minimax. It includes an AI avatar generator, an AI voice generator, voice cloning and face swapping, an AI co-writer for scripts, custom agents you define for specific roles, storyboarding, color grading and audio editing, and a multiplayer mode with live cursors. Apps are on the App Store and Google Play.
Pictory converts a script, an article or a URL into a video by segmenting the text into scenes and matching each to stock footage, then adds auto captions, an ElevenLabs voice, your brand kit and a template. It also turns a single image into an animated clip from a prompt, extracts highlights from long recordings, and lists AI avatar presenters as launching soon. Around the editor sit an API, Make and Zapier automations, a Chrome extension for URL to video and a Pictory GPT inside ChatGPT. The vendor targets creators, marketers, educators and teams producing training, tutorials and social content at scale.
invideo AI sells per seat on annual billing. Starter is $20 a seat a month with 400 credits a seat a month, access to the Lite frontier agents only, no Seedance 2.5 and no guest seats. Plus is $50 a seat a month billed annually (regularly $60) with 2,000 credits a seat, full access to the Seedance models, early access to advanced features and ten free guest seats with 190 credits each. Max is $100 a seat a month billed annually (regularly $150) with 5,000 credits a seat and twenty free guest seats, which the vendor markets as the lowest cost per credit. Premium stock footage is included at 100 assets on Starter, 200 on Plus and 500 on Max. Enterprise is sales-led. The pricing page states approximate credit costs per generation: about 30 credits for a 5 second 720p Seedance 2.0 Fast clip, about 38 for Seedance 2.0 at 1080p, about 50 for Seedance 2.5 at 1080p, about 2.5 credits for a Nano Banana Pro image, 5 for its 4K variant and 3 for a GPT Image 2 image. On those figures Plus's 2,000 credits are roughly 40 Seedance 2.5 clips or 66 Seedance 2.0 Fast clips a month. A free plan is not shown on the pricing page.
Pictory sells in minutes of rendered video per year. Starter is $25 a month billed annually or $29 monthly, with 2,400 video minutes a year, 5 GB of storage, one brand kit, 1,200 AI credits a year, a 5 million-clip stock video library, one user and 720 minutes of ElevenLabs voices. Professional is $35 a month billed annually or $59 monthly, with 7,200 minutes a year, 20 GB, five brand kits, 12,000 AI credits, an 18 million-clip library, one user and 1,440 voice minutes. Team is $119 a month billed annually or $199 monthly, with 21,600 minutes a year, 100 GB, ten brand kits, 28,800 AI credits, seats starting at three and 2,880 voice minutes. Enterprise is custom with unlimited brand kits and seats starting at ten. The page does not list a per-project length limit or API pricing separately.
Generated footage. Pictory's core is stock; invideo can create the shot you describe with Seedance 2.5, Veo 3.1, Sora 2 or Kling, then keep editing it by prompt. For product concepts, fictional scenes or anything a stock library will never contain, that is the whole decision.
Presenters and voices. An avatar generator, voice generator and voice cloning are included, alongside ElevenLabs and Minimax audio. Pictory's avatars are listed as coming soon and its voices are ElevenLabs minutes.
An editing agent on a real timeline. Prompt-driven edits across multiple shots, storyboarding, color grading and audio editing, with a co-writer for scripts and custom agents for recurring roles. Pictory's editor is scene-based around text and stock.
Collaboration built in. Multiplayer mode with live cursors, and ten or twenty guest seats free on Plus and Max, each with 190 credits.
Predictable volume pricing. 2,400 minutes a year for $25 a month billed annually, 7,200 for $35 and 21,600 for $119 are numbers a content team can plan around. invideo's credits vary by model: a 5 second clip is 30 to 50 credits, and Starter's 400 credits go quickly.
Repurposing text and long recordings. Script, article and URL to video, highlight extraction from long videos, a Chrome extension, a Pictory GPT, and Make and Zapier automations with an API make Pictory a pipeline for blogs, webinars and training libraries.
Stock library depth. Five million clips on Starter and 18 million on Professional and Team, against invideo's 100 to 500 premium stock assets per plan.
Brand control. One to ten brand kits by tier with uploaded fonts, colors and logos, and smart templates that keep output consistent across a team.
Pick invideo AI if you want to generate original footage, avatars or cloned voices, if you edit by talking to an agent rather than dragging clips, or if you work in a small team that benefits from free guest seats. Plus at $50 a seat a month billed annually is the practical tier because Starter excludes Seedance 2.5 and the full agents.
Pick Pictory if your inputs are scripts, articles, blog posts and recordings, you want captioned stock-based videos in volume with consistent branding, and you prefer paying for minutes rather than tracking credits. Starter at $25 a month billed annually suits a solo marketer; Professional at $35 unlocks the 18 million-clip library and five brand kits, and Team at $119 adds seats and 21,600 minutes a year.
