CapCut

CapCut is ByteDance's video and photo editor, available as desktop apps for Windows and Mac, a web editor, and mobile apps for iOS, Android and tablets. It pairs a conventional timeline with templates, effects and a growing set of generative tools, and it is the editor most closely tied to short form platforms. It is aimed at social creators and small marketing teams publishing to TikTok, YouTube and Instagram. The AI features that matter are automatic captions, text to speech, background removal for images and video, AI video generation from text, images or keyframes, image enhancement and upscaling, voice enhancement and noise reduction, and Video Studio, a chat driven mode where CapCut builds a video from scratch, including style and avatar, from a short conversation. CapCut does not publish a single global price. Its help center states that Pro pricing varies by region, device and promotion and directs users to the Upgrade button in the app; a 7 day free Pro trial is offered. CapCut's own comparison guide cites $19.99 per month or $179.99 per year for individual Pro subscribers, and a Teams help page cites starting prices of $15 to $30 per seat per month billed annually, purchasable only through CapCut Online. A recent plan update raised Pro AI credits from 550 to 1,200 and cloud storage from 100 GB to 1 TB, and introduced a cheaper Standard plan. Free cloud storage was discontinued in August 2024, so users on the free tier now pay separately for online storage.
