Facts checked against both vendors on September 28, 2026.
Rytr is the stronger choice for an individual or small business that wants cheap, quick short-form copy: the Unlimited plan is $7.50 a month and Premium is $24.16 a month. Copy.ai is the stronger choice for a sales or marketing team that wants to automate go-to-market processes, but its workflow plans start at $12,000 a year and its only self-serve tier is a $29 a month chat plan. These products no longer compete for the same buyer.

AI assistant crafts quality content swiftly across languages and tones.
Rytr and Copy.ai both started as template-driven AI copywriters. Rytr has stayed there and kept its prices low. Copy.ai has rebuilt itself as a go-to-market automation platform where writing is one step in a larger workflow, and its pricing now reflects a sales tool rather than a writing app.
This comparison sets out what each product is in September 2026, what each costs according to the vendor's own pricing page, and which kind of buyer each one now serves.
Rytr is a lightweight AI writing assistant. It offers more than 40 use cases and templates covering emails, SEO copy, reviews, paragraphs, captions and calls to action, plus an AI Command Generator for free-form instructions. It ships with more than 20 preset tones, and the paid plans add Tone Match, which analyzes a sample of your own writing and mirrors it: one custom tone on Unlimited, five on Premium. A plagiarism checker is included on paid plans, and a free Chrome extension lets you generate wherever you write. The Premium plan adds custom use cases and writing in more than 35 languages.
Copy.ai describes itself as the first AI-native GTM platform. Its components are Workflows that chain multi-step automations, Actions as the steps inside them, Agents that run targeted tasks with guardrails, Tables that consolidate data from outside sources, Chat for one-off tasks, an Infobase for company knowledge and a Brand Voice. The use cases on its home page are a prospecting cockpit, inbound lead processing, account-based marketing, content creation, translation and localization, deal coaching and forecasting, lead and account intelligence and CRM enrichment. It works with OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini and Perplexity models and lists Salesforce, HubSpot, Gong, Zapier, Outreach and Salesloft among more than 2,000 integrations. The old copywriting templates live on as more than 70 free single-purpose generators on its tools page.
Rytr Free is $0 and allows 10,000 characters of generation a month, one language, the 20 preset tones and the Chrome extension, with no Tone Match and no plagiarism checks. Unlimited is $7.50 a month, or $90 a year, with unlimited generation, one Tone Match voice, one language and 50 plagiarism checks a month. Premium is $24.16 a month with unlimited generation at a tripled throughput limit, multiple Tone Match voices, more than 35 languages, 100 plagiarism checks a month, custom use cases, priority support and access to the community. The pricing page states that yearly billing gives two months free; the annual figure for Premium is not spelled out, so check the vendor's page.
Copy.ai's self-serve plan is Chat at $29 a month, or $24 a month billed annually ($288 a year), for five seats with unlimited words in chat, unlimited chat projects and access to OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models. The workflow tiers are billed annually: Growth is $1,000 a month billed as $12,000 a year with 75 seats and 20,000 workflow credits a month; Expansion is $2,000 a month billed as $24,000 a year with 150 seats and 45,000 credits; Scale is $3,000 a month billed as $36,000 a year with 200 seats and 75,000 credits. Enterprise is custom, with unlimited seats, guided implementation, API access, more than 20 integrations, a designated support team and enterprise security. No free plan appears on the pricing page; the free offering is the library of standalone generators.
Price is decisive for a solo user. Unlimited at $7.50 a month buys unlimited generation, and even Premium at $24.16 is below Copy.ai's Chat plan at $29. Rytr also has a functioning free tier of 10,000 characters a month, whereas Copy.ai's pricing page starts at a paid plan.
Rytr is simpler to get value from. Pick a use case, set a tone, generate, edit. Tone Match is a practical way to make output sound like you without writing a brand guide, and the Chrome extension puts the same flow into email and web forms. For a freelancer, a small shop or anyone drafting product descriptions, ad copy and social posts, there is nothing to configure.
Multilingual output is included rather than bolted on: Premium writes in more than 35 languages. Rytr's plagiarism checks, 50 or 100 a month on the paid plans, are a small but useful inclusion for people publishing directly from the tool.
Copy.ai does things Rytr does not try to do. Workflows automate multi-step processes, Tables hold the data those processes read, and Agents run tasks unattended. If the job is qualifying inbound leads, enriching CRM records, researching accounts or generating outreach at volume from live data, Rytr has no equivalent.
Integration depth is the other gap. Copy.ai connects to Salesforce, HubSpot, Gong, Outreach and Salesloft and to Zapier, and on Enterprise adds API access. Rytr's integration surface is the Chrome extension.
Copy.ai also gives teams more room. The Chat plan includes five seats for $29 a month, and the Growth tier's 75 seats cost far less per person than five separate Rytr Premium subscriptions would over a year, provided the team actually uses the workflows. Model choice across OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini and Perplexity is explicit, and Brand Voice and Infobase give a shared company context that Rytr's per-user Tone Match does not.
Pick Rytr if you are one person or a very small team producing short copy and you want a low fixed cost. It is the cheaper tool by a wide margin, and its free plan is enough to test whether the output suits you.
Pick Copy.ai if you run sales, marketing operations or a combined go-to-market team and the problem is process rather than prose. Be realistic about the price: the Chat plan is a chat window with brand voice, and the workflow product starts at $12,000 a year. If that budget is out of reach, Copy.ai's free generators cover the same ground as Rytr's templates for occasional use, but Rytr is the better paid tool at that scale.
