Zapier vs Make: Which Should You Pick?

Zapier is a no-code automation platform where workflows are called Zaps. Its pricing page lists a visual editor, unlimited app integrations on paid plans, multi-step Zaps, premium apps, webhooks, AI fields, Zapier Copilot for building Zaps, and the surrounding products: Tables, Forms, Interfaces, Canvas, an MCP server and an SDK. Tasks are shared across the account, whether they are consumed by Zaps, AI steps, code or the SDK.

Make is a visual automation platform where workflows are called scenarios and are drawn as flowcharts of modules. Its pricing page lists a no-code visual workflow builder with more than 3,000 apps, unlimited active scenarios on paid plans, 300 or more Make API endpoints, teams and team roles, Maia by Make for building automations and AI agents through conversation, and Make AI Agents in beta on all plans. Make's help center explains that non-AI modules consume one credit per operation and that some AI features consume more.

Pricing

Zapier Free is $0 with 100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps, Tables, Forms and Zapier Copilot. Professional starts at $19.99 a month billed annually or $29.99 billed monthly for 750 tasks, with a slider up to 2 million tasks, and adds multi-step Zaps, unlimited premium apps, webhooks, AI fields, conditional form logic and email and live chat support. Team starts at $69 a month billed annually or $103.50 billed monthly for 2,000 tasks, covers up to 25 users, and adds shared Zaps and folders, shared app connections, SAML SSO and priority support. Enterprise is priced through sales with unlimited users, advanced admin permissions, observability and a technical account manager. All paid plans include unlimited app integrations, Zap version control, Forms, Tables, Canvas, MCP and the SDK. If you reach your task tier you are switched to pay-as-you-go at a higher per-task rate unless you turn it off, and nonprofits get 15% off.

Make Free is $0 with 1,000 credits a month, 2 active scenarios, a 15-minute minimum interval, 5-minute maximum execution time, 5 MB maximum file size and 7 days of execution log storage. The paid plan, shown on the pricing page as the Make plan, starts at $9 a month for 5,000 credits on a slider that runs to 8 million credits, and includes unlimited active scenarios, a 1-minute minimum interval, 40-minute execution time, 500 MB files, 30 days of logs, the Make API and teams with team roles; annual billing saves 15% or more. Enterprise is custom priced with 60 days of logs, 1,000 MB files, custom functions, 24/7 support and access to Make's value engineering team. Make's help center states that extra credits bought beyond your plan cost 25% more than included credits, that Core plans run up to 300,000 credits a month and Pro plans up to 8 million, and that all paid users can choose Make's AI Provider or their own AI provider connection. The plan naming on the pricing page is in transition: the comparison table labels the paid tier Make Pro and the FAQ still refers to Core, Pro and Teams.

Where Zapier wins

Simplicity. The editor is linear, the pricing unit is a task you can count from a Zap's history, and the free tier lets you try real two-step Zaps. Zapier Copilot builds Zaps from a description, which lowers the barrier further.

The product surface is broader. Tables, Forms, Interfaces, Canvas, MCP and the SDK come with every paid plan, so a team can build a small internal tool, not just a pipe between two apps. Zapier also states that all paid plans include unlimited app integrations and unlimited premium apps on Professional and above.

Team controls arrive early. Team at $69 a month billed annually includes SAML SSO, shared app connections and shared folders for up to 25 users. Make's pricing page lists teams and team roles on its paid tier but reserves 24/7 support and enterprise features for its custom-priced plan.

Where Make wins

Price per action. $9 a month buys 5,000 credits; Zapier's $19.99 buys 750 tasks. Even allowing for the fact that a Make scenario often uses several modules per run, Make is usually far cheaper for anything that runs frequently. Its free tier has 1,000 credits against Zapier's 100 tasks.

Control. Scenarios are flowcharts with routers, iterators, aggregators and error handlers, so branching and looping workflows are natural rather than bolted on. The 1-minute minimum interval and 40-minute execution time on paid plans suit heavier jobs, and paid users can bring their own AI provider key rather than paying Make's AI rates.

Credit flexibility. The slider runs from 5,000 to 8 million credits on one plan, extra credits are priced at a stated 25% premium, and the help center describes automatic upgrades where a customer outgrows a tier without paying more.

Who should pick which

Pick Zapier if your automations are mostly simple triggers and actions, if non-technical staff will build and maintain them, if you want Tables, Forms and Interfaces in the same subscription, or if you need SSO and shared connections for a team at a known price.

Pick Make if you run high-volume or complex workflows, if someone on the team is comfortable with a visual programming model, if you want to bring your own AI provider, or if budget is the deciding factor. Many teams keep Zapier for the automations everyone touches and move the heavy pipelines to Make.
