About BlackOre
Black Ore is a tax automation platform, called Tax Autopilot, that takes a tax return from client document request through preparation, review and audit trail with AI doing the repetitive work. It generates the data request, classifies incoming documents, builds the binder and workpapers, extracts figures from source documents, calculates edge cases, pushes data into the firm's tax software, and produces a tie out package for the preparer.
It is built for large CPA firms and their tax practice leaders, with named customers including Baker Tilly, Grassi, Withum and Honkamp. The Review stage flags anomalies and errors, offers an AI copilot to the reviewer, supports team workflows and packages the return for sign off. The Audit stage keeps documents in one place, links each piece of evidence to the review step it supports, tracks validation in real time and exports an audit package. Integrations cover ATX, CCH, Drake, Intuit products and UltraTax. The platform currently supports Form 1040 and K1 and K3 schedules, with 1041 and 1065 automation listed as coming soon. Infrastructure is SOC 2 compliant and based in the United States, and the company is backed by Oak HC/FT, Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund and Khosla Ventures.
Pricing is not published. Firms request a demo and receive a proposal, which is typical for a product priced against return volume and firm size. The vendor publishes headline results of 99 percent or better extraction accuracy, 98 percent time savings on preparation and 80 percent lower cost per return, but these are vendor figures rather than independent benchmarks.
