About Midjourney
Midjourney is a generative image and video service run by an independent, self funded research lab. Users write a text prompt, receive a set of candidate images, then vary, upscale, edit and extend the results, or animate them into short video clips. The current V8.2 model focuses on aesthetics, image quality and Personalization, a profile that learns an individual's taste from the images they rate, and the lab describes its output as more creative, bold and sophisticated than earlier versions.
It is used by illustrators, concept artists, designers, marketers and hobbyists who want a distinctive visual style without a local GPU. Midjourney runs on the web at midjourney.com and inside Discord, so work can happen in a browser editor or through chat commands. Higher plans allow more concurrent jobs, Relax mode for unmetered generation at lower priority, and Stealth mode, which keeps images and videos private rather than visible in the public gallery.
Pricing is published in four tiers, each with a 20 percent discount for annual billing. Basic is $10 per month ($96 per year) with 3.3 hours of Fast GPU time, three concurrent Fast image jobs and no Relax mode. Standard is $30 per month ($288 per year) with 15 Fast hours and unlimited Relax images. Pro is $60 per month ($576 per year) with 30 Fast hours, unlimited Relax images and SD video, and Stealth mode. Mega is $120 per month ($1,152 per year) with 60 Fast hours and the same features as Pro. Video generation is available in SD and HD on Standard, Pro and Mega. The pricing page lists no free plan.
