About Shuttle
Shuttle is a cloud platform for building and deploying Rust backends without writing infrastructure files. Instead of separate configuration, the platform reads infrastructure needs from function signatures and annotations in the code, so a developer can ask for a database or a secret directly in the Rust source and have it provisioned on deploy.
The workflow runs through a command line tool. A developer installs it with cargo, creates a project with shuttle init, runs it locally and ships it with shuttle deploy. It supports the major Rust frameworks, provides logging out of the box, reuses build caches for fast redeploys, and can deploy to the user's own cloud rather than only to Shuttle's servers. The project is open source and maintains starter templates such as a Discord bot, a URL shortener and a full stack chat app.
For AI work, Shuttle offers an official MCP server so that an agent in an assistant can search the documentation, deploy an app, check its status and read logs to debug failures. A shuttle openai resource plugin also gives a service an OpenAI client with a single annotation and an API key loaded from its secrets file.
Pricing is organized into three paid plans, according to the documentation. Pro covers three projects on reserved instances with monitoring and guaranteed support response times. Growth adds team features, auto scaling, zero downtime deployments and dedicated databases. Enterprise offers single tenant deployments, custom hardware, multi region support and advanced security. Prices for each plan are not stated on the pages that describe them.
