About ChatGPT
ChatGPT is OpenAI's conversational assistant, available on the web, on desktop and on mobile. OpenAI now organizes it into three surfaces: Chat for questions, learning and everyday help; Work for completing work tasks from start to finish, connected to tools such as Gmail and Slack; and Codex for coding and technical work. Within a conversation it drafts and polishes writing, generates images and graphic designs from a prompt, holds real time voice conversations, runs deep research, and writes, debugs and improves code.
It serves individuals who want a general purpose assistant and organizations that want the same assistant inside a governed workspace. Capabilities that matter include memory that carries across conversations, Projects, scheduled tasks and custom GPTs, file uploads, and parental controls for teen accounts. Business and Enterprise workspaces add SAML single sign on, MFA, centralized billing, usage analytics and no training on business data by default; Enterprise adds an expanded context window, SCIM, data residency in ten regions and 24/7 priority support.
Individual pricing is published as Free at $0, Go at $8 per month in the US, Plus at $20 per month, and Pro at $100 per month for 5x the usage of Plus or $200 per month for 20x. Business workspaces cost $20 per standard seat per month billed annually ($25 monthly) or $100 per premium seat per month billed annually ($125 monthly). Enterprise pricing is custom.
One current limitation is worth knowing: as of September 10, 2026, OpenAI has temporarily paused new sign ups and upgrades to the $200 Pro tier, while existing subscriptions and the $100 tier are unaffected.
