Amazon Sage Maker

Amazon SageMaker is the AWS platform for data, analytics and AI. AWS now positions it as a single center for those disciplines rather than a machine learning service alone, and the original service for building, training and deploying models continues under the name Amazon SageMaker AI. Around it sit SageMaker Unified Studio, a development environment that brings SQL analytics, data processing, model development and generative AI into one workspace, a lakehouse that unifies data in Amazon S3 and Amazon Redshift behind Apache Iceberg compatible tools, and SageMaker Catalog for governance. It is intended for enterprise data engineering, analytics and machine learning teams that want to work on shared data without moving between siloed tools. SageMaker AI supplies HyperPod for large scale training, JumpStart for foundation models and MLOps tooling through inference and observability. Unified Studio includes serverless notebooks with a built in AI agent and a SQL editor, zero ETL integrations and federated queries reach third party sources, and Amazon Q Developer helps discover data, generate SQL and build pipelines from natural language. The Catalog adds fine grained access control, data classification and toxicity detection. Pricing is pay as you go per component. Unified Studio's core setup, project and user management requests are always free, and notebook instances include 250 hours of a t3.medium instance for the first two months. SageMaker Catalog includes 20 MB of metadata storage, 4,000 API requests and 0.2 compute units a month at no charge, then $10 per 100,000 requests, $0.40 per GB and $1.776 per compute unit, with recommendations at $0.015 per 1,000 input tokens and $0.075 per 1,000 output tokens. The SageMaker Data Agent costs $0.04 per credit with a minimum of 0.01 credits per request. SageMaker AI compute, storage and MLOps are priced individually. The naming matters when reading documentation: Amazon SageMaker now refers to the unified platform, while the classic machine learning service is Amazon SageMaker AI.
