About BLUF
BLUF, short for Bottom Line Up Front, is an AI browser extension that summarizes and explains content on any website, PDF or YouTube video, and lets you ask follow up questions about what you are reading. It does the job of cutting a long article, paper or video down to the key points so you can decide quickly what deserves your full attention. It also works on local files.
Three actions cover most use. Summarize extracts the main points, Explain rewrites complex material and jargon in plain terms, and Ask answers specific questions about the page. You can trigger it from the toolbar icon, from a right click on selected text, or with the keyboard shortcut Shift plus Alt plus B. If a page is too long, you can select a portion and have BLUF focus on just that section. It is available for Chrome and Firefox, with other browsers listed as coming soon. The site suggests it for researchers, students, journalists, forum moderators, social media managers and busy professionals.
Pricing follows three plans published on the plans page. Free is 0 per month with 25 prompts per month and 20,000 words per page. Standard is 4 per month with 200 prompts and 50,000 words per page. Professional is 10 per month with unlimited prompts and 200,000 words per page. A prompt is any message you send, and a failed request does not count.
