About Devin by Cognition
Cognition is the company behind Devin, an autonomous AI software engineer that plans, writes, tests and ships production code inside a team's existing codebase and tools. Engineers hand Devin tasks and review the results, spending their own time on system design and problem solving while the agent handles repetitive engineering work. Devin is also available inside the Windsurf editor.
Devin is used by individual developers and by large engineering organizations. It runs as cloud agents through Devin Cloud, and as Devin Desktop and a CLI for local work, with inline edits and tab completions alongside agent sessions. Users can choose frontier models from OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and SpaceXAI, plus leading open source models and Cognition's own in house models. Team features include shared sessions, centralized billing and an admin dashboard with analytics. Cognition also publishes FrontierCode, a benchmark that scores whether a model's pull request is something a maintainer would actually merge, and offers a dedicated product for government customers.
Devin pricing is published on its own site. Free costs $0 with a light agent quota, unlimited inline edits and unlimited tab completions. Pro is $20 per month with increased quotas, full model availability, cloud agent access and extra usage at API pricing. Max is $200 per month with significantly higher quotas. Teams is $80 per month for the team plan plus $40 per month for each full developer seat, for up to 200 users. Enterprise is quote based and adds SAML and OIDC single sign on, dedicated account management and a dedicated deployment option.
The company has also announced an AI Productivity Guarantee and a system that estimates the engineering hours each Devin session is worth.
