About Copilot for Microsoft 365
Microsoft 365 Copilot is Microsoft's AI assistant embedded in the Microsoft 365 applications an organization already runs. It drafts and rewrites in Word, builds and analyzes in Excel, generates decks in PowerPoint, triages and summarizes in Outlook, and recaps meetings in Teams, grounding its answers in the organization's own documents, mail and chat through Microsoft Graph.
It is sold to organizations rather than to individuals. The package spans Copilot Chat for secure chat over web and work data, Researcher for longer investigations that run over several steps, agents in SharePoint, image generation, Copilot Studio for building custom agents and connectors, and a Copilot Dashboard for tracking usage and readiness across a tenant. Microsoft also publishes a substantial adoption program of guides, prompt galleries, champion materials and engagement templates covering the rollout itself.
Pricing is published per user per month. Microsoft 365 Copilot for enterprise costs $30.00 per user per month on an annual subscription, or $31.50 paid monthly. For smaller organizations the site lists Microsoft 365 Copilot Business starting from $21.00 per user per month, Microsoft 365 Business Standard with Copilot at $23.50 and Microsoft 365 Business Premium with Copilot at $32.00, each on an annual subscription that renews automatically. Variants of the bundled plans that exclude Teams are listed at lower amounts, and Microsoft runs periodic discounts with stated end dates.
Note the naming. The product shipped as Copilot for Microsoft 365 and Microsoft has since renamed it Microsoft 365 Copilot, so older documentation, license names and third party write ups still use both forms for the same thing.
