About Comet
Comet is a web browser from Perplexity with an AI assistant built into the browsing surface rather than bolted on as an extension. The assistant sees the page you are on and the tabs you have open, so you can ask it to compare how different outlets are covering a story, pull a schedule out of your inbox and draft a reply, turn a syllabus into a study plan, research and buy a product, or build something from a page you are reading. Perplexity's answer engine supplies the search behind it.
It is aimed at people who want delegation rather than another tab of chat: the browser is presented as a personal assistant that handles inbox triage, grocery ordering, financial housekeeping and trip planning inside the same window where the work already happens. It is available for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android, and Perplexity maintains a resource hub of worked examples alongside controls for privacy settings, the default search engine and safe browsing.
Perplexity publishes no price for Comet itself. The browser is offered as a free download with no purchase step, and the company's subscription tiers are presented on the main Perplexity site rather than on the Comet pages, which did not render their pricing for review.
One practical note: Perplexity's own site is protected by a bot challenge that blocks automated access, so the product pages, the frequently asked questions and the subscription tiers can be read reliably only in a real browser session.
