About Windsurf
Windsurf, the AI code editor, no longer exists under that name. Its maker, Cognition, has renamed it Devin Desktop: windsurf.com now redirects to devin.ai, and the product page states plainly that Devin Desktop is the new name for Windsurf. What survives is the IDE foundation, with syntax highlighting, autocomplete, inline edits, Tab completions and debugging tools, now recast as a command center for managing coding agents.
Devin Desktop is built for engineers who run several agents at once, locally and in the cloud. From one surface they plan work, delegate it, review the changes and ship, with Spaces sharing context and Git worktrees across agents. Fast Context locates the exact files and lines an agent needs in milliseconds. The Agent Client Protocol lets it work across models and agents, with frontier models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini and other providers alongside leading open source models on paid plans, and Devin Cloud provides the hosted agents.
Cognition publishes five plans. Free is $0 with a light quota, limited model availability and unlimited inline edits and Tab completions. Pro is $20 per month with increased quotas, full model availability, cloud agents and the option to buy extra usage at API pricing. Max is $200 per month with significantly higher quotas. Teams is $80 per month for the team plus $40 per month per full developer seat, for up to 200 users, with centralized billing, an admin dashboard with analytics and priority support. Enterprise is custom priced and adds SAML or OIDC SSO, enterprise admin controls and a dedicated deployment option.
