About Microsoft Bing
Bing is Microsoft's search engine, now presented as a search and answer engine built around AI. Alongside the conventional ranked results page, Copilot Search returns a written, summarized answer with citations back to the sources it drew on, plus suggested directions for digging further. The result is a single destination for both quick factual lookups and the kind of open ended question that would otherwise take several searches.
The wider service covers image search with filters for theme, color and layout, maps with live traffic and turn by turn directions, shopping with price comparison and product reviews, news with a customizable feed, and a travel section for researching and booking trips. Safe Search filters let you control what appears in results. Image generation is available directly from the Edge address bar by typing a request to create an image, with results appearing on the search page where they can be regenerated, shared or saved. Microsoft Rewards gives up to 5 points per signed in search, redeemable for gift cards or charitable donations.
Bing is free to use and Microsoft publishes no consumer price for it. There is no pricing page on the site, and the revenue model is advertising rather than subscription.
Two practical constraints are worth noting. Microsoft states that feature availability and behavior vary by device type, market and browser version, so the experience differs between regions. Several features, including address bar image generation, require Microsoft Edge with Bing set as the default search engine.
