About Speechify
Speechify is a voice AI assistant built around text to speech, voice typing and spoken answers. It reads documents, PDFs, web pages and books aloud in natural sounding AI voices, highlights text as it plays, and lets the listener change speed, scan a photographed page and have it read, and import from Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive. The same account adds AI summaries and chat about what is being read, AI podcasts generated from documents or descriptions, and a voice assistant that can be asked questions about a page or book.
Voice typing dictates text into other applications on Windows and Mac, which the vendor says is up to five times faster than typing. Speechify is available as a web app, Chrome and Edge extensions, iOS, Android, Windows and Mac apps. Its founder has said he is dyslexic, and the product is widely used for reading support. Speechify Studio and the Speechify API are listed as separate products for creators and developers.
The Free plan offers listening at speeds up to 1.5x, 10 voices described as robotic sounding and text to speech features only. The Premium plan is $29 per month when billed monthly, with a yearly option the vendor says saves 60 percent. It includes more than 1,000 natural voices, 60 plus languages, listening at up to 5x speed, Scan and Listen, AI summaries and chats, voice typing, AI podcasts and the voice assistant.
