Cohere is an enterprise AI company whose chat capability now lives inside North, its agentic workplace platform, and in the Command family of generative models behind it. This listing covers that combination: a secure assistant and agent workspace for employees, and the models and API a company uses to build its own conversational applications. It is built for large organizations in financial services, the public sector, technology, telecommunications, energy and utilities, healthcare and manufacturing that want AI under their own control. North combines search and retrieval grounded in company data, generative drafting of documents and summaries, an Agent Studio for building agents, and Automations for multi step agentic workflows, all inside a zero trust security model. It can run in a private VPC or on premises, on Cohere's Model Vault inference platform, or as a cloud service. The Command models handle multilingual generation and tool use, Compass provides intelligent search and discovery, and developers can chat with Command in the Playground on the Cohere dashboard. North and Compass are priced on custom enterprise terms. Model Vault dedicated instances are published hourly and monthly, from $4.00 an hour or $2,500 a month for a small Embed 4 instance up to $10.00 an hour or $6,500 a month for a large Rerank 4 Pro instance. Legacy API models are priced per million tokens, for example Command at $1.00 input and $2.00 output and the August 2024 Command R+ release at $2.50 input and $10.00 output. A trial API key is created with every account and is free but rate limited and not for production use. Cohere does not sell a standalone consumer chat app. Conversational use is delivered through North for enterprises and the Playground for developers.
