About Storybirdie
StoryBirdie is web based AI storyboarding software for directors and filmmakers. It takes a screenplay and produces a scene analysis, a shot list, storyboard frames and a timed animatic that can be shared with people who do not have an account. The vendor states that the camera decisions stay with the director.
The workflow runs from upload to analysis, lookbook, shot list, storyboard, animatic and export. Screenplays are uploaded as PDF, DOCX or Fountain files up to 20MB, and the user picks a landscape 16:9 or portrait 9:16 format at upload, which cannot be changed afterward. The AI analysis flags continuity errors, logic and motivation gaps and unclear blocking, tied to the lines they reference. Shot lists can be steered with director's notes and edited inline, and results export as PDF, XLSX or CSV. The vendor says scripts are not used for model training and are processed through Microsoft Azure and OpenAI.
StoryBirdie also offers free tools on its site, including a screenplay analysis, a shot list generator, printable storyboard and shot list templates and a pre production checklist.
