Tortus

TORTUS is a clinical AI platform that listens to consultations and writes the resulting clinical documentation. It is built for health systems, particularly the NHS in the United Kingdom, and is described as the first ambient voice technology product certified UKCA Class IIa. The workflow captures speaker separated audio, encrypted on the device, then writes structured notes, letters and referrals within seconds. It suggests clinical codes alongside each note and files the result into the electronic health record only after clinician approval. A safety layer called the Shell detects, edits and verifies every statement against what was actually said in the consultation, removing unsupported content before a clinician sees it. Patient audio is not retained at rest. TORTUS integrates with the majority of NHS electronic patient record systems and with X On and Avaya telephony services, and it is used across settings from emergency departments and ambulance clinical hubs to GP practices and mental health services.
