About GitBook AI
GitBook is a documentation platform that publishes product docs for human readers and for the AI agents that increasingly read them first. Content is written in a block based visual editor or as Markdown in a repository, with a two way sync to GitHub or GitLab so developers and technical writers can work in whichever tool suits them and branches, reviews and merges behave the way they do in code.
The newer part of the product is a quality layer aimed at drift. GitBook monitors published content, flags pages that have fallen out of step with the product and queues them for review before an agent starts repeating the wrong answer at scale. An assistant answers reader questions inside the docs site, AI insights show how those questions were answered and where knowledge is missing, and a documentation agent can write, edit and update pages directly. Sites support custom domains, advanced branding, redirects, analytics and feedback, authenticated access, adaptive content that varies by reader, interactive API playgrounds and preview deployments.
The Free plan costs nothing and covers the editor, Git sync, API playgrounds, preview deployments and optimizations for language models. Essential is $65 per site a month and adds the assistant, team collaboration, a custom domain, branding, analytics and redirects, with $20 of AI credits included. Ultimate is $249 per site a month and adds the chat assistant, AI insights, the documentation agent, adaptive content, authenticated access and content consolidation, with $100 of AI credits included. Both site plans are quoted when billed annually, carry a 14 day trial and add $12 per user a month. Extra AI credits are sold in advance from $47.50 a month for 5,000 up to $300 a month for 40,000. Enterprise terms are custom.
