About Refraction AI
Refraction is a web based code generation tool for developers. A user pastes a block of code, chooses a language or framework, and runs a generation to refactor the code, write documentation, create unit tests, and handle similar routine tasks. The vendor lists support for 56 languages, from mainstream choices such as JavaScript, Python, Java, Go and Rust to older ones such as COBOL, ABAP and Fortran. The product is built on OpenAI models and is operated by Twistag.
It is meant for individual developers and engineering teams who want to automate the repetitive parts of software work such as testing, documentation and refactoring. Editor extensions are available on paid plans, and the generation history is stored so earlier results can be browsed again. The vendor states that stored code and responses are not analyzed or shared with third parties and are visible only to the user who submitted them.
The Hobby plan is free and includes one user and 10 code generations. Pro costs $8 per month, or $80 per year, with unlimited generations, unlimited history and editor extensions. Team costs $14 per user per month, or $140 per user per year, adding multiple members, unified billing, shared code history and team management. Enterprise is quoted on request and adds custom billing, single sign on, SCIM, audit logs and dedicated support. A free seven day trial is offered, and the vendor does not offer refunds, though subscriptions can be cancelled at any time.
