SmartStudi Sidebar

SmartStudi Sidebar is a Chrome extension that puts the tools from the SmartStudi website into a panel beside whatever page you are reading. Rather than copying text into a separate tab, you work on it in place: scan a passage, rewrite it, or generate a draft without leaving the document. It is aimed at students and writers. The sidebar checks content for AI generation and plagiarism, paraphrases text, generates essays, builds citations in APA, MLA, Chicago and other styles, summarizes long passages and checks grammar. The extension is a front end only, so it requires an account on the SmartStudi site to work. The listing is published by the owner of that site, and the developer discloses that the extension handles personally identifiable information and states that it is not sold to third parties. The extension itself installs at no cost. SmartStudi publishes two plans on its own site: a Free Trial at $0.00 USD, described as a few attempts at every feature with no payment method required, and Unlimited at $9.99 USD per month for full access to all features. One limitation is worth weighing. The Chrome Web Store listing shows version 1.0.2, last updated in December 2024, and the package is small at under 34 KB, which fits its role as a thin wrapper around the web application rather than a standalone tool. Anyone evaluating it should treat the website as the real product and the sidebar as a convenience layer over it.
