Summate.it is a web article summarizer. A user adds the article address after the summate.it domain, or uses the Chrome extension, and the service extracts the article text with Full Text RSS and passes it to OpenAI to produce a short summary of the main points. Summaries can be translated into the reader's preferred language, and an API is available for programmatic use. Very large articles are truncated to fit the limits of the OpenAI API. The service suits readers who want the essentials of a long web article when time is short. It is a small, focused utility from FiveFilters.org, the maker of Push to Kindle, Feed Control and Simple Print. Since June 2024 an account is required to use it, in order to prevent abuse. A Push to Kindle subscription carries premium access to Summate.it, and the reverse also applies when the same email address is used. There are two plans. The Free plan summarizes up to 10 articles each month. Premium covers up to 200 articles each month and costs $5 per month when paid monthly or $3 per month when paid annually.
