About SYSTRAN
SYSTRAN is a machine translation provider whose software translates text, documents and web pages across more than 50 languages. The hosted product, SYSTRAN Translate Pro, handles over 30 file formats including Office documents, PDF, XML and IDML while keeping layout intact, and a browser extension translates any page in one click.
It is aimed at organizations with compliance obligations rather than casual users: enterprises, government bodies, law enforcement and regulated industries. Capabilities include industry specific specialized models, formal and informal tone control, custom dictionaries, a Microsoft Office 365 add in, connectors for CAT tools and translation management systems, and Model Studio for tuning a model to a company's own terminology. Speech to text transcription was added using Whisper. For buyers that cannot send content to a cloud service, SYSTRAN Server runs the same engines on premise. The company states that customer content is encrypted, not stored or reused, and hosted in data centers within the customer's region.
Translate Pro Plus is $18.99 per user per month on an annual commitment or $25.99 per user per month with no commitment, covering unlimited text translation, roughly 600 pages of text per user per month, 1,000,000 characters per user per month and up to 20 users. Pro Premium is $34.99 per user per month on an annual commitment or $49.99 with no commitment, raising the allowance to roughly 2,000 pages and 3,000,000 characters and adding full data privacy, CAT tool connectors, Model Studio and up to 50 users. Server and enterprise deployments are quoted by sales.
The company dates its machine translation work back more than 50 years, supplied Xerox commercially in 1978, built Babel Fish for AltaVista in 1997, and was acquired by the French data processing group ChapsVision in 2024.
