Prices and features checked against each vendor on September 28, 2026.
Replit is a browser-based development platform whose main product is now Replit Agent, an AI that builds, runs and deploys full applications from a chat prompt, with hosting, databases and integrations bundled in. As of September 2026 the pricing page lists Core at $20 per month, or $18 per month billed annually, with $20 of usage toward the most powerful models and a Free Mode allowance of up to 30 hours of chat and 60 projects; Pro at $100 per month, or $90 annually, with $100 toward the most powerful models, 10 parallel agents, up to 15 collaborators and database rollback up to 28 days; and a custom-priced Enterprise plan with SSO, single-tenant environments and static outbound IPs.
Cost predictability is the recurring issue. Replit's pricing FAQ describes effort-based, pay-as-you-go pricing for the agent, and the subscription only includes a fixed dollar amount toward the most powerful models, $20 on Core and $100 on Pro, so a long build session that keeps the agent working through a complex feature can consume the allowance quickly and roll into usage charges. Hosting is also metered separately: the billing docs describe compute units, outbound data transfer and production database compute and storage, each with its own overage pricing, so a deployed app carries running costs on top of the subscription.
The second reason is lock-in to Replit's environment. Everything from the editor to the database to deployment lives inside Replit, which is convenient when you are starting but awkward when you want to move an app to your own infrastructure, work in a local IDE or bring in a developer who prefers Git and a terminal. The alternatives below split roughly into two groups: other prompt-to-app builders with clearer credit pricing, and developer tools that generate code you own from the start.
Built from each tool's listing. Vendors can update their own listing after claiming it.

Best for: Non-developers who want a prompt-to-app builder with credits priced per plan and no per-seat charges.
Lovable is a chat-driven builder for websites and web apps that, like Replit, hosts what it builds, with a Cloud layer for the backend. Pricing is by credits rather than model dollars: the Free plan grants 5 build credits a day up to 30 a month plus 20 Cloud credits, Pro starts at $25 per month for 100 credits and scales through tiers up to 10,000 credits, and Business starts at $50 per month for the same credit ladder with team features. Workspaces support unlimited members on every plan, and top-ups are $15 per 50 credits on Pro. The docs publish example prompt costs, such as roughly one credit for adding authentication, which makes it easier to estimate a build than Replit's effort-based model.

Best for: People who want an agent that builds web and mobile apps and prices everything in monthly credits.
Emergent describes itself as building production-ready apps through conversation, with agents that design, code and deploy. The Free plan includes 10 monthly credits, Standard is $20 per month, or $17 annually, with 100 credits, private hosting, GitHub integration and task forking, and Pro is $200 per month, or $167 annually, with 750 credits, a larger context window, custom AI agents and priority support. Business and Enterprise are custom priced with SSO, role-based access and audit logs. The GitHub integration on the $20 tier is the relevant difference from Replit if you want your code somewhere you control.

Best for: Developers who want an agent to build the app in their own repository and deploy it wherever they like.
Claude Code is an agentic coding tool that runs in the terminal, in VS Code and JetBrains, on the web and on desktop, and it works on a normal Git repository rather than a hosted sandbox, so the output is yours to host on any provider. It is included with Claude Pro at $20 per month, or $17 on annual billing, and with Max at $100 or $200 per month for five or twenty times the Pro usage. Team seats are $25 per month, or $20 annually. The trade-off against Replit is that you supply the hosting and database yourself, but that is also the point if you are trying to escape a metered platform.

Best for: Developers who want a full local IDE with an agent, cloud agents and code review.
Cursor is a VS Code fork with an agent mode, cloud agents, MCP support and the Bugbot reviewer, and it works on code on your machine. Plans are a free Hobby tier, Pro at $20 per month with unlimited tab completions and extended agent limits, Pro Plus at $60, Ultra at $200 and Teams at $40 per user per month. Included usage is divided into a Cursor Models pool and an Other Models pool charged at each third-party model's API price, with on-demand usage billed in arrears, which is a similar spend-as-you-go pattern to Replit but without any hosting charges because deployment is up to you.
Best for: Founders who want a visual no-code builder with its own hosting and a long-established plan structure.
Bubble is a visual, no-code web and native mobile app builder with hosting included, so it competes with Replit on the all-in-one promise without leaning on an AI agent for every change. The Free plan includes 50,000 workload units a month for development, Starter is $59 per month billed annually with 175,000 workload units, a live site and a custom domain, Growth is $209 per month with 250,000 units, version control and two app editors, and Team is $549 per month with 500,000 units and five editors. Workload units are a usage meter too, but they are published per plan rather than tied to model effort.

Best for: Teams building internal tools and client portals on top of a database rather than custom code.
Softr builds apps, portals and workflows on top of its own database and connected sources, with an AI co-builder and a fixed number of AI credits per plan. There is a Free plan, then Basic at $19 per month with 10 AI credits, one builder, 50,000 database records and 2,500 workflow actions a month, Pro at $99 per month with 50 AI credits, two builders, 500,000 records and 10,000 workflow actions, and Business at $329 per month with 100 AI credits; Enterprise is custom. It is not a general-purpose coding platform like Replit, but for CRUD apps and portals the plans are flat and the app-user limits are published.
If you want another prompt-to-app builder with hosting included, Lovable's credit ladder starting at $25 per month is the most transparent replacement, and Emergent's $20 Standard plan adds GitHub integration. If the goal is to own the code and the deployment, Claude Code on Claude Pro at $20 or Codex on ChatGPT Plus at $20 will build in your own repository. Bubble and Softr suit founders and operations teams who want visual builders with flat, published plan limits instead of model-effort pricing.
