About MaskmyPrompt
MaskMyPrompt is a free browser tool that anonymizes a prompt before it is pasted into ChatGPT or another chatbot. A user types or pastes a prompt, and the tool detects names of people, organizations and locations and replaces them with made up ones, then shows the original with the detected names highlighted next to the masked version and a view of what was masked.
The processing runs inside the browser window using Transformers.js. The page states that prompt data stays private in that window and is never saved or sent to any server. It suits anyone who wants help from a language model with text that contains confidential names or places, such as drafts of contracts, emails or customer notes, without exposing the real identifiers.
The tool was programmed by Mike Ushakov together with ChatGPT, and the page invites bug reports, feature requests and requests for new types of data to be masked by email or Twitter.
The site shows no pricing or account system, and the tool is used directly from the home page.
