About Writefull
Writefull is an AI writing and proofreading tool for academics. Its language models are trained on millions of journal articles, so its edits are tailored to research writing rather than to general business prose. The company was built by a team of researchers in linguistics and AI, with offices in the Netherlands, Spain and the UK.
The product works where researchers already write. Writefull for Word gives language feedback inside Microsoft Word, with paraphrasing, style changes, explanations and summaries. Writefull for Overleaf gives feedback inside LaTeX code and can generate code for tables and equations. Writefull Revise accepts an uploaded document for a language check before journal submission and returns corrections as Track Changes. Additional AI widgets include the Academizer, which turns informal sentences into academic ones, a Paraphraser with three levels of rewrite, a Title Generator and an Abstract Generator based on a paper, and TeXGPT for LaTeX. The vendor also lists Writefull Cite, an API and services for students, researchers, institutions and publishers.
The vendor states that texts and searches are sent over an encrypted connection and are not stored or used for training. It says it is used at more than 1,500 institutions and describes student discounts, institutional licensing and group licenses. Plan prices are shown in a subscription page that loads on login, and specific amounts are not given on the public site.
