About DB Pilot
DB Pilot is a desktop database tool that combines a database GUI, a SQL editor with smart autocomplete, and notebooks that mix SQL and Python. It is built around an AI assistant that writes and refines SQL from plain English instructions, explains queries, fixes errors with a "Fix with AI" action and converts between code and SQL, so routine database work takes less typing and less lookup.
It is aimed at engineers, analysts and business owners who query and edit databases directly. Records can be edited in a spreadsheet style grid, and notebooks combine SQL blocks, Python blocks, inputs and interactive tables and charts to build dashboards, with query results available as Pandas or Polars dataframes in later blocks, Jinja templating and environment variables for secrets. The assistant works with models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and xAI or a custom provider, lets users choose which databases, tables and notebooks go into its context, and accepts custom rules for SQL style. Supported databases are PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, DuckDB, CockroachDB and chDB for local ClickHouse. App data and credentials stay on the user's machine, and the assistant sees schema information but not the data itself.
Pricing is published. Free costs $0 forever and covers browsing and querying local databases, the SQL editor and table explorer, and a limited trial of the AI features. The One time Purchase is $79 paid once and unlocks all AI features with the user's own API keys, all premium features, priority support and one year of updates.
The app currently runs on Mac only, on both Apple silicon and Intel, with Linux and Windows support listed as coming soon.
